When you add a logo to workwear you'll usually choose between embroidery and printing. Both look great — but each suits different garments, designs and budgets. Here's how to decide.

What is embroidery?

Embroidery stitches your logo directly into the fabric using thread. It gives a premium, textured, professional finish that lasts the life of the garment and won't fade, crack or peel in the wash. It's the go-to choice for polo shirts, fleeces, jackets and caps.

What is printing?

Printing applies your design to the surface of the fabric. It reproduces detailed artwork, gradients and multiple colours cleanly, and works brilliantly for larger designs and back prints. It's the popular choice for t-shirts, hoodies and promotional wear.

Embroidery vs printing at a glance

Choose embroidery for durability, a premium look and small-to-medium logos on thicker garments. Choose printing for detailed or colourful designs, large prints and lightweight fabrics. Many businesses use both — embroidered polos and jackets for the smart everyday uniform, printed t-shirts and hoodies for events and casual wear.

Which lasts longer?

Embroidery is the most hard-wearing option and generally outlasts the garment itself. Quality printing is also very durable when cared for correctly — wash inside out and avoid ironing directly over the print. Both methods will comfortably handle regular washing.
