Adding your logo to workwear makes any team look professional — but should you choose embroidery or print? Both look great when done well; they just suit different garments and jobs. Here’s a straight comparison to help you decide before you order.
How each method works
Embroidery stitches your logo into the fabric with thread. It has a premium, textured finish and is extremely hard-wearing. Print (screen print or modern transfer/DTF) lays your design onto the surface of the garment, reproducing fine detail and unlimited colours.
Embroidery: the pros and cons
- Best for: polo shirts, jackets and softshells, fleeces, caps and healthcare tunics.
- Strengths: survives years of hot washing, looks upmarket, ideal for logos and text on the chest or sleeve.
- Watch-outs: not suited to very large or highly detailed designs, or to thin/stretchy fabrics like performance tees.
Print: the pros and cons
- Best for: t-shirts, event and team kit, hi-vis, and any big or colourful design.
- Strengths: reproduces detail, gradients and multiple colours; sits flat and light on the fabric; the only option for heat-sensitive hi-vis.
- Watch-outs: a lower-quality print can crack or fade over time — quality of application matters.

What about cost?
For small logos on a chest or sleeve, embroidery and print work out similar per garment. Print becomes more cost-effective for large designs and big runs; embroidery gives the best long-term value on garments that get washed constantly, because it simply lasts longer.
