A good uniform helps residents and families recognise your team, looks professional and stands up to long shifts and frequent washing. Here's what to consider when choosing uniforms for a care home or home care service.
Comfort for long shifts
Carers spend their day moving, lifting and bending, so uniforms need to allow free movement. Tunics, scrub tops and scrub trousers in stretch or easy-care fabrics are popular choices. Polo shirts work well for activity coordinators and home care workers who want a smart but relaxed look.
Easy to wash and dry
Care uniforms are washed often, so choose fabrics that can handle hot washes and dry quickly. Many care providers follow NHS uniform guidance, which recommends short sleeves and washing uniforms at a high temperature. Check the care label on each garment before ordering.
Make roles easy to identify
Using different colours for different roles, such as senior carers, carers, nurses and housekeeping, helps residents, families and visitors know who to ask for help. Add your organisation's logo and, if you like, staff names or job titles.
Layers for home visits
Home care workers travel between visits in all weather. Fleeces, softshell jackets and bodywarmers with your logo keep them warm and recognisable on the doorstep.
Kitchen, housekeeping and hygiene
Don't forget the wider team. We supply aprons and chefwear for kitchen staff, tabards for housekeeping, and disposable gloves and disposable aprons for everyday care.
Ordering for new starters
Staff turnover means care providers often need a few uniforms at a time. With no minimum order, you can kit out new starters as they join, with the same logo and colours every time.
See our care home uniforms page, or request a team quote and we'll put together a uniform package for your service.
